On this page of a 1962 edition of the Glenurquhart Bulletin there is an article on Robert Grant, a hymnographer who wrote the 9th Hymn in the Church Hymnary. His family had an interesting history. After fighting for the Stuart cause at Culloden, Grant's family were employed by the East India Company. This was a commercial enterprise which provided employment to many Scots. However, whilst the Jacobites were usually Roman Catholic or Episcopalian, the Grants became Evangelicals and contributed money to worthy causes. One of these causes was the abolition of slavery.
