Major General John Francis Glencairn Campbell was a commander in the 1st Battalion of the 91st Argyllshire Highlanders. He is mentioned in 1852 as Lieutenant Colonel and was promoted to Colonel in 1854. On 12th November 1860 he was again promoted to Major General of the battalion.
