Merry Dancers' Storytelling Project

The Merry Dancers' Storytelling Project was a three year initiative, managed by The Highland Council which developed from the 'Tales at Martinmas' storytelling festival. During its lifetime 'The Merry Dancers' encouraged Highland storytelling by promoting gatherings, house ceilidhs, storywalks and the Martinmas festival. Projects were organised which brought together storytelling with other art forms - including felting, sound recording, songwriting and drama. In 2004 an animation called The Gizzen Briggs was made with first year art students from Tain Academy. It won an engageScotland Art in Education award. The project ended in December 2007.
